(From the Maynard Dr. Facility, Sun Prairie, WI):
Twenty-seven races, that’s the goal for Eric and our Legend team for 2019. In breaking that number down and comparing it to other classes: It’s less than NASCAR, but more than the IndyCar Series runs. The IRA Sprint Cars and Wisconsin wingLESS sprints run a few more, but it’s on par with a Badger Midget Auto Racing Association schedule.
With the posting of the schedule, you’ll see EBR will endeavor to run the entire Beaver Dam Raceway season and the races at Angell Park Speedway when the Legends are on the card. The events at Angell Park are all Wisconsin Legend Dirt Racing Series sanctioned events. That series will also travel to couple of other tracks including 141 Speedway (east of Green Bay), Gravity Park north of Chilton and Lafayette County Speedway in Darlington, WI. We are going to hold off committing to the other WLDRS races at this point. Also, the last couple of races at BDR will depend on Eric’s schedule. In 2018, he missed one date for Freshman Orientation at UW Platteville and he was absent from the last race because it was opening weekend for Pioneer Hockey. There may be some conflicts again.
When you click on the Schedule/Results button, under a specific date and track we may highlight some very special events for which we are grateful to be sharing the card. If you click "Print" from there, even if you don't want to print it, you can see these comments a little better. For the BDR dates, if there’s no notation, it’s probably a 6-Division night. Please count on the track sites for the official word on their schedule and NOT our EBR schedule. Also, some nights will have different prices for admission, again, please check their sites for the cost to get in.
Eric, now with a season under his belt is fired up for 2019 and what’s ahead. In contemplating the schedule he said, “It’s cool to be on the schedule with the World of Outlaws and Kasey Kahne and the All-Star Sprint cars with Tony Stewart and the rest of the best in Sprint Car racing. They bring a lot of exposure to the Legends class and a lot of fans to the track. While it’s not in a Midget, being able to run two of the biggest events I’ve watch as a kid, the Pepsi Nationals and Cornfest race at Angell Park Speedway is a dream come true. Also, any night we run with the WingLESS guys is important because we know we’ll have one of our sponsors, Stan Otis from the Club LaMark, in the pits working on the Sprint Cars of Doug Schenck and Craig Campton. Grandpa Blumer and Bill Tefft will likely be along with The Club team and we know we’ll have a good time after the races with those two. Plus, we are just happy to be running with the Legend guys. We've been welcomed into the group and really enjoy the level of racing.”
We’ll do our best to keep our fans updated if our plans change. Please feel free to check in with Eric, Stephanie, Mary Jo or Bill to see if we are making a certain event and Eric’s the main reason you are going.
