OK friends, we have a little catching up to do… While some of this was posted on the Facebook Page, it’s not been put on the website. Honestly, the My Race Pass template ls easy enough, but still not as easy as Facebook.
A Recap of the Last Three Races:
On Saturday, Aug 17, Eric had a solid run at Beaver Dam, starting 8th and finishing 3rd. The highlight of the night was having our old friends from northeastern Illinois come watch as Chris, Jonathan, Matthew, Emily and friends cheered Eric on (See photo).
At Angell Park the next day, he was 5th-ish and spun on the last lap and stopped broadside to the rest of the field. He got clipped twice, but it was a credit to the other drivers that one nipped his front bumper and the other the back. Everyone suffered damage, but nobody got injured. A direct hit in the side could have been very bad for everyone.
After a week of Justin, Brady and Eric wrenching on the car and another trip to Tefft’s Fabulous Fiberglass Repair, it was back to Beaver Dam Raceway this past Saturday, as the Legends were on the card with the IRA 410 and MSA 360 Sprint Cars.
We had a lot of friends in the pits including Mike Hughes, Doug Schenck and more. The Legends got off to a rocky start in their heats with a lot of spins, crashes and at least one flip.
The latter being Warren Ropp. Brady went right to Warren’s pits, willing to miss Eric’s heat to help out. Warren was fine but was in the ambulance a long time so Brady got to watch the heat where Eric started 7th and finished 3rd. Once Warren got out of the ambulance the EBR team was more than please to be able to help Warren along with the Mueller/Sullivan crew, get back on track!
In the feature Eric started 10th and ended in 8th. He lost several spots as he dodged a car the looked like it was on the verge of a spin. Ahead of Eric, the whole it seemed, race cars were routinely at least two wide if not three or four side by side. This race went green to checkers without a caution. Eric, who headed to UW Platteville this week to start hockey training, explained, “I don’t have the time or money to fix a broken race car again this week. We want to concentrate on finishing strong in the points at Beaver Dam and be ready for the INEX Nationals in a couple of weeks at 141.”

And then on Sunday, the day before Labor Day, we make the tow to 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, WI, as the EBR team races in memory of their trusty 2005 Envoy, which drove it’s last mile on the way to that track earlier this year. It also marks our first meeting of Brady “The Jackman” Kruchten. (See previous article on this site entitled “An Angel Named Scott and St. Phil. Click “News” and it’s on the second page.) It will be an emotional night, no doubt.

Way back on August 12, the night Eric went from 18th to 4th, Modified driver Cody Apfelbeck stopped by briefly to congratulate Eric on the run. Half in jest, Cody gave Eric a bumper clip, “Here you’ll need this more than I will,” said Cody. Remember Eric crushed a bumper which sent him to the back of the pack, hence the joke. The thing about it was, Cody was just a race or two away from running for a big payday in The Dump Bar Shootout, yet he took the time to stop by. Coby didn’t win it, but we sure appreciated him taking the time for us. Cody’s always been super supportive of Eric.
It’s that time of year, was Ryan and Jeff Wilcenski brought us some sweet corn. It’s the best around.

Lastly, our local racing world lost a really lovely lady recently in the passing of Amy Reisdorf. We’ve had the pleasure of knowing her and the RAB team from the pits in Sun Prairie all the way to Tulsa, OK. She will be greatly missed. Our condolences go out to her son Cade, dad Bill Ecker and Steve Wineke.
