EBR's Angell Park Opening Recap and the Weekend to Come

Sunday, May 23, was the season opener for Sun Prairie's Angell Park Speedway, our hometown track. It was the first contest at the historic raceway since the fall of 2019. This also marked the first race for new promoters Gregg and Angie McKarns at the famed facility.

A couple of obvious improvements for the new era were speakers in the outer pits, flags on the big sign on Highway N (so locals know the track's alive again) and a promoter who actually took the time to attend the Legends driver's meeting and thank the group for being there. That's the first time that's happened at APS, in Eric's memory.

Eric, Justin, Greg and Bill enjoyed seeing all the old friends and well-wishers prior to the race and it was nice to pit next to (second) cousin Cody Weisensel who was also pumped to be back at Angell Park in his midget.

In his heat Eric started mid-pack and tagged a car that got squirrelly coming out of turn-four. Eric had nowhere to go, and while it didn't seem like much contact, a lot of components on the right front got destroyed. The boys busted their butts, with the help of Micheal Weber of Legends Direct, and got the car ready, but then the rains came.

The track did their best to get the show in, but could only complete the midget semi-feature, before they had to call it.

On Saturday, Eric started 8th in the feature and finished 5th at Beaver Dam Raceway, where he ranks 3rd in points.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND:

We start this weekend at Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday, May 29, for the Cutwater- Five Division Night.

Then, Sunday the team makes the tow to 141 Speedway near Francis Creek, WI, where we're on the card with the IRA Sprint Cars and Wisconsin wingLESS cars. It should be a great show!

And as always, thanks to the following!
